Not all hot water problems involve complete hot water system replacement. Our plumbers first determine the actual problem and then resolve it. These are the issues that are seen most often throughout Toronto homes.
A leak is the most common water heater fault. With time, the water erodes the tank and creates small cracks. If there is a leak near the top it’s likely that water connections are loose. The leak at the bottom can be due to condensation or a bad pressure relief valve. If there is a steady drip, it means that the tank itself is going, and it is time to replace the tank.
If the tank is full and has no heat on it, it points to the heat source. In the case of an electrical water heater, it’s typically a failed heating element or wiring problem. In the case of a gas unit, it is usually the pilot light, the gas supply or the burner. Each component is tested and pinpointed quickly.
If your hot water has a foul odor, there is bacteria in the tank. We rinse and disinfect the tank to remove any residues. Hot water can scald and we deal with this safely and allow the system to cool before testing is carried out.
