How to Replace a Flush Valve??

• Step 1: Remove lid from a tank.
• Step 2:  Shut off the water by turning the shut-off valve clockwise.
• Step 3:  Drain as much water out of the tank as possible by holding flush lever down until the toilet is completely flushed.
• Step 4: Sponge or towel out any remaining water in the tank. A shop vac also works well.
• Step 5: Stop the water supply tube to tank.
• Step 6: Disconnect flapper chain from tank lever arm.
• Step 7: Disconnect refill tube attached to the top of the overflow pipe.
• Step 8: Underneath tank, unscrew bolts that hold the tank to the bowl. You may need to spray them with some penetrating oil first before trying to loosen them.
• Step 9: Remove tank bolts with the help of a wrench.
• Step 10: Lift tank off of bowl and set aside on a towel.
• Step 11: Underneath the tank, unscrew the lock nut holding flush valve to the tank using a plumber’s wrench. Remove the old flush valve.
• Step 12: Install a new flush valve reading the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Step 13: Once new flush is installed, reattach tank to bowl with tank bolts.
• Step 14: Add the flapper chain to flush lever arm.
• Step 15: Annex fill tube to the new overflow pipe.
• Step 16: Reconnect water supply to the tank.
• Step 17: Turn on the water, test new flush valve and check for leaks
