Have you ever noticed a nasty smell coming from your sink? The sink is undoubtedly the most occupied area of the kitchen. Think about all of the food debris and grease you put down there daily. It can rapidly accumulate and cause some pretty bad smells like raw sewage or rotten eggs, and it isn’t good to live with. Most homeowners don’t pay much attention to their plumbing issues until something unpleasant happens. Luckily, the drain cleaning experts at Everest Drain are here to help and share some of our knowledge so that you can get rid of stinky sink drain odors.
The garbage net in your plumbing is designed to block sewer gases coming from your house. A little amount of water is preserved in the net to check the sewer gases coming back up the pipeline. But this only works if the net is correctly performed, which produces the pressure inside the pipelines so that the gases liberate. If by any chance there is no proper airing, this may result in high pressure in the pipes which can cause gases released at home. Or there could be low pressure in the pipes, which perform water blocking the gases. If there is any kind of blockage in your pipeline especially the pipe-shaped U then it may cause these problems which cause a bad smell.
So when your sink starts to stink and isn’t draining properly, you may need to take a look upward toward the vent system to find the culprit. Because most drain vent pipes are up near the roof, sometimes debris from the roof can clog the pipe. When a vent becomes clogged, your sink starts to stink. To remove the clogged, you’ll need a flashlight, a plumber’s snake, and a garden hose. Then try the following:
It can be possible that the sink stinks because there can be waste things stuck in your pipeline. Food waste, fats, hair, grease, and oils can all cause stinky problems. A small amount of leftover food can get stuck in the U-bend pipe of your kitchen sink which blocks the sink and stinks. Not only food but also oils, fat, hair, and other things cause the same problem. All these waste traps in U-shape pipe then it will decay due to which nasty smell came. Mainly the hair which is caught in a plughole or shower or bath can act as a trap due to which other waste material gets blocked and stuck in the pipe. If you suspect there is a blockage because of hair, try to remove the blockage using a plunger. If you remove the blockage and still sinks, then the problem might be in the U-bend pipe. So you have to clean up your U-bend pipe.
Follow the above steps and if it won’t fix the problem then it must be the issue of your drain system. It is obvious you can’t solve the drain problem by yourself so it is better to consult a good professional drain cleaning plumber. You can call Everest Plumber if you can’t solve the plumbing problem by yourself at any time even on the weekends.
